Stand In Your Power - an Unshakeable Story
This week on the Cougarlicious Cubhouse, we welcomed two powerhouse women who embody strength, vision, and heart—Debra Isaacs, founder of Unshakeable.org, and her associate BarbaraJo Batterman. Founded in Las Vegas in 2016, Unshakable is a nonprofit dedicated to guiding women recovering from trauma, including survivors of human trafficking, domestic and sexual violence, addiction, and homelessness. With their Empower to Employ programs, career coaching, and the “I Am” workshop series, Debra and BarbaraJo are helping women rediscover confidence, rebuild self-worth, and gain financial independence for a brighter future.
What began as Debra’s idea for a documentary quickly transformed into a life-changing mission after she witnessed the struggles of women in the court system. Inspired by their resilience and recognizing the need for more than recovery—specifically pathways to sustainable careers—Debra shifted her focus to empowering women through job readiness, interview skills, and personal growth. Together with BarbaraJo, who has been a steadfast partner in building community connections and recruiting volunteers, they’ve created programs that are as practical as they are empowering, complete with a career closet to provide professional attire for interviews and new opportunities.
The episode also celebrated the importance of community support, partnerships, and shared purpose. Whether it’s providing financial literacy training, guiding young women ages 12 to 17 through their Next Gen programs, or offering makeup and self-care workshops that encourage women to love themselves again, Unshakable’s mission goes far beyond career placement—it’s about helping women reclaim their power and rewrite their stories. As always, the Cubhouse brought humor, honesty, and a touch of eye candy to the conversation, while spotlighting a truly Cougar-Licious™ cause that uplifts women and inspires us all to stand strong, shine bright, and stay unshakable.
